Plot Review of Suspicious Partner

The story revolves around Eun Bong Hee and Noh Ji Wook who are somehow connected by their past. Here Bong Hee is a prosecutor trainee whose boyfriend cheats on her and suspiciously gets murdered in Bong Hee’s apartment. Apart from this maybe weird things happen with Bong Hee which she can not understand. But she gets suspected of her boyfriend’s murder. On the other hand, Noh Ji Wook is a prosecutor whose lover cheated on her with his best friend. Later Ji Wook changes his job and becomes a private attorney and takes the case of Bong Hee. As they start working together they fall in love and find out their past connection too.

Ji Eun Hyuk, a lawyer as well as the best friend of Noh Ji Wook was like brothers to each other but one incident changed their relationship and Eun Hyuk accepted his fault and did his best to apologize and make everything normal again. Cha Yoo Jung, a prosecutor who is the ex-girlfriend of Noh Ji Wook also comes back with a lot of guilt. However, together they find out the real culprit of the murder. And makes Eun Bong Hee clear her name.

Noh Ji-wook: The Prosecutor with a Troubled Past

The character Noh Ji Wook is played by the veteran actor Ji Chang Wook. Noh Ji Wook is a skilled prosecutor but was not satisfied enough for this because of having a past trauma and changed his career and became a defense attorney. He is cold and reserved but none of these work with Eun Bong Hee. To Eun Bong Hee, he is the most reliable partner and later a caring lover. As the drama goes on, he opens up himself and goes to the depth of his childhood trauma. Actor Ji Chang Wook gave this character his own charm and appearance. 

Eun Bong-hee: The Optimistic Trainee Lawyer

As the drama starts we see Eun Bong Hee, who gets in a lot of trouble. She gets cheated on, and she gets suspected for a murder as well as her career but is a cheerful person. Beautiful actress Nam Ji Hyuk portrays the loving character of Eun Bong Hee. As she is falsely accused of a murder she never loses hope because she knows she has not done anything wrong she keeps being optimistic and at the end of the drama she proves her innocence with the help of her friends. The gorgeous actress Kwon Nara played the character of Cha Yoo Jung, who was the ex-girlfriend of Noh Ji Wook. Professionally Yoo Jung is a passionate and talented prosecutor. It is true that she cheated on Ji Wook but she accepts her fault and comes back with her guilt. Her character adds a tension to the story. 

Ji Eun-hyuk (Choi Tae Joon): The Loyal Friend with a Past 

Handsome actor Choi Tae Joon played the role of Ji Eun Hyuk who is more like a brother to Ji Wook than a friend. I am not taking his side but who can control his feelings for life? Both Eun Hyuk and Yoo Jung betrayed their friend which was so bad of them but the good thing was they immediately understood what they did. As for Ji Eun Hyuk, after that incident, he comes back with guilt and tries his best to win his friend’s side again. His character is calm and full of redemption and guilt. 

Byun Young-hee (Lee Deok-hwa): The Wise Mentor

Byun Young Hee is the mentor of both Noh Ji Wook and Ji Eun Hyuk. He owns a law firm and is a father figure to the boys. The elder actor Lee Deok Hwa played the role of Byun Young Hee. His character proved to be one of the most significant roles of the drama by being the backbone of the protagonist. His wisdom and humor saved Ji Wook in so many ways. He also tries his best to bring back the friendship of the boys. 

Bang Gae-jang (Jang Hyuk-jin): The Comic Relief Investigator

This character is an absolute comic relief of this whole drama, as the drama has a crime mystery this character was needed. He has a quirky personality but is very loyal to Ji Wook. And the character is played by Jang Hyuk Jin.

Noh Ji Wook is a man who is cold in nature and believes only in law. But when Eun Bong Hee gets accused of murder, Ji Wook comes out of his principles and stands with Bong Hee. 

Trust and Betrayal

Trust and Betrayal played a big role in the storyline of Suspicious Partner, as we see Bong Hee was saved only because Ji Wook trusted her and wished to save her. On the other hand, Ji Wook was betrayed by two of his closest friends. Even though it was hurtful but with this heartbreak the character of Ji Wook grew and learnt to forgive, heal and move on. Bong Hee too was betrayed by her lover and her client, which made her mind stronger than before.

I’ve heard somewhere that life is all about second chances and this drama proved it. Giving a second chance is actually important because man makes mistakes, and that’s natural. In this drama, we see both Ji Wook and Bong Hee face too many ups and downs in their lives and they wisely give themselves a second chance, not only themselves but also give the people around them another chance. At the end of the drama, they proved that sometimes giving chances is not so bad.

Sometimes in our life, we need someone to whom we can go without any worry and they are none other than our loved ones. Those people heal our internal wounds. In this drama, we see Bong Hee with whom nothing goes right and on the other side Ji Wook has a deep wound from his past, when they met each other they started to heal each other both willingly and unwillingly. They not only heal each other’s hidden wounds but also help each other to overcome their fears. 

The Thrilling Mystery Behind the Murders

As I previously said, Suspicious Partner is also a mystery thriller, so the mystery is about a serial killer. This mystery plays one of the most gripping roles in this drama as the beginning of the story and even the murder of Bong Hee’s ex-boyfriend is also related to this serial killer. However, as the story goes on Bong Hee, Noh Ji Wook and their friend uncover a truth that is darker than anything. The scariest thing is, the psycho killer now targets everyone who is even slightly linked to his long-buried secret. But here is another twist, the killer who is doing all this sinful doings is not like the typical killers or villains. This villain became a villain because of a tragic past, and this made him a helpless one and one of the most complex villains in K-dramas till now.

Personally, when I watched this drama, I was kind of confused as to whether I should hate him or should I try to understand him. Please let me know what you think about it. 

Again, the killer did his best to manipulate Bong Hee with his calculative moves which created a tension in the minds of the viewers and also pushed Ji-wook and Bong-hee to their limits.
