Main Characters and Performances
For sure the plot of the drama is so fresh and unique but what brought the attention of the viewers is the unique characters and their powerful performance. The unforgettable characters and the brilliant performance of all of the cast are one of the biggest strengths of the drama. They masterfully maintain the balance between humor, heart, and intensity, making even the most unusual scenes feel grounded and relatable. All of the characters are worth mentioning but here we are going to talk about the prominent characters.
Han Ji Min as Bong Ye Bun
Bong Ye Bun is a small-town veterinarian who is cute, innocent and very kind. She lives with her grandfather and aunt after her mother died. One night she accidentally gets an amazing yet weird power that allows her to see the past when she touches the back of someone, no matter if it’s an animal or a human. She wants to experiment how far her power works and for this, she does something hilarious and gets involved with Detective Jang Yeol.
Han Ji Min played the role of Bong Ye Bun, whose life takes a wild turn after she gains the psychic ability. She delivers a refreshingly quirky performance as Bong Ye-Bun who is awkwardly innocent, curious and has growing bravery in her personality that makes her instantly lovable. Even though she does some funniest things she also has an emotional side which is so painful that makes the audience sympathize with her from the depth of their hearts.
Lee Min Ki as Moon Jang Yeol
Moon Jang Yeol is a short-tempered young man, who used to be a hotshot detective in Seoul but for some reason, he is sent to Mujin. He is moody and cold and gets irritated by everything and everyone around him, especially Bong Ye Bun. From the very first day he comes to Mujin he gets the wrong idea about her and he thinks she is a pervert who tries to touch people wrongly. When he gets to know about her power he blackmails her and keeps her with him to go back to Seoul. But as the story goes forward we see a different Jang Yeol who starts caring about Ye Bun.
As for the performance, Lee Min Ki masterfully reveals layers of vulnerability and loyalty beneath the tough exterior in the role of Jang Yeol. His partnership with Ye Bun adds unique humor and heart to the drama.
Suho (EXO) as Kim Seon Woo
Kim Seon Woo is an outsider who comes to Mujin for his own reasons. No one knows where he is from. As soon as he came to the town the most unexpected and unfortunate thing started happening in the peaceful town. A serial killer came out and was one by one killing the people of Mujin. He is so calm and clever and for this reason Detective Moon Jang Yeol suspects him to be the killer. But Ye Bun fully trusts him to be innocent.
Suho delivered a performance of a polished actor, who made everyone confused with his acting and people went crazy. What is his actual side, the innocent one that Ye Bun thinks or is he the killer as Jang Yeol thinks?
Supporting Cast That Steals the Show
As I said, all of the cast did a very good job that you can not unsee anyone, some of them will make you laugh so hard and some will make you super confused. Let’s see some of them.
Joo Min Kyun as Bae Ok Hui
Joo Min Kyun played the character of Bae Ok Hui, who is the best friend of Ye Bun. You can call her the cheerleader of the drama for sure because along with her activities, her presence will make you laugh too. Since their childhood, when Ye Bun’s mother died she was with Ye Bun like a sister, a mother and a friend. She is the most trusted person that Ye Bun ever had. Even if her character is a comic relief, she works as an emotional anchor too.
Park Sung Yeon as Jung Hyeon Ok
Jung Hyeon Ok is the aunt of Ye Bun, who is a mother to her. She loves her like a mother. At first, she appears as a serious and normal character but as the drama goes on she will make you laugh also.
Park Hyun Kwon as Park Jong Bae
The veteran actor Park Kyun Kwon played the role of Park Jong Bae who is the most complex character in the drama. He is the Shaman of the town and works so hard to earn money because his wife and son live abroad and he needs to send them money. But at a point, he starts behaving strangely and we see a new face behind the funny character.
Exploring the Core Themes
The drama Behind Touch is for sure a supernatural comedy-mystery drama but what makes it stand out as something more than a comedy-drama is the meaningful themes that give the drama its emotional heartbeat. Let’s see what those are.
Connection in Isolation
The drama is set in the little town of Mujin where everyone knows each other, their name, home relatives, everything. But do they really know each other so well? Even though they know each other they are not emotionally close. Everyone has their own struggle that makes them emotionally distant from others. And ironically the psychic power bridges the gap. It also works as a metaphor for how to understand others or be understood by others which gives hope to be connected with others.
Healing Through Relationships
In this world everyone has their own scar that needs to be healed and so is Bong Ye Bun and Jang Yeol. Ye Bun lost her mother at a very young age, she lives with her grandfather who does not even talk to her, her heart is so heavy with pain and guilt. Even if she has a funny personality she is wounded from inside. On the other hand, Jang Yeol is also emotionally guarded due to his past experience. But as soon as they start working together both of them start to know and understand each other. Their trust and support for each other became their healer. And this couple shows that sometimes healing can be done through quiet, consistent presence.
Justice vs. Intuition
Jang Yeol is a detective so he believes in witnesses and evidence but Ye Bun only has her magical touch that she relies on. One goes for logic the other for intuition and when they come together it becomes one of the show’s most compelling dynamics. And with this, a question arises that, how justice can be achieved? Only through evidence or another traditional means or it can be done by empathy sometimes?
Empathy as Superpower
Ye Bun’s weird psychic ability for sure appears comic at first but if you deeply think then see the symbolic meaning of this ability. Her power symbolizes empathy and healing. She can see people’s memories by touching them but seeing others’ memories means to know them and to understand them on a deeper level. She not only sees their deeds but also can feel their pains and struggles. As many characters who live in Mujin carry emotional burdens that can not be spoken to anyone but they want to be empathized by others and that is what Ye Bun does for them.
Cinematography and Setting: Bringing Mujin to Life
The plot is so unique and refreshing but what makes it more alive is the stunning visual storytelling. Mujin is a peaceful town more like a village and the cinematography perfectly complements the tone of Mujin which is sometimes whimsical, sometimes eerie, but always emotionally resonant.
The Village of Mujin – A Character in Itself
In this drama, Mujin itself is a character that plays an undeniable role to enhance the mood of the drama. The beauty of Mujin is just like an enchantment that will mesmerize you with the rolling hills, quiet fields, and cozy countryside streets which also create a nostalgic and intimate atmosphere. Mujin is filled with innocence but as soon as the serial killing gets started it changes its beauty into horror, and the coziness turns into an eerie atmosphere.
A Blend of Realism and Quirky Surrealism
The makers cleverly used the color palettes and tones of the drama. When the comic and quirky moments are presented such as Ye Bun’s discovery of her wired style of powers or her friends’ foolishness and goofiness or the cute fight between Ye Bun and Jang Yeol, they use soft and soothing colors and the camera angle is also tight. But as The investigation part gets serious or the emotional part is revealed, the tone totally shifts into dark lightning and camera angles become tighter.
Symbolic Framing and Meaningful Details
The drama frames both Ye Bun and Jang Yeol quite symbolically as we see them being separated by space or sometimes coming closer, and this symbolizes the emotional arc of their relationship. When they first meet Jang Yeol appears as a rude and heartless person to Ye Bun meanwhile, Jang Yeol takes Ye Bun as a pervert as she was trying to touch someone’s butt. But as they start working together they understand each other deeply and start caring for each other. The visual shots of open fields, narrow paths and even the sea mirror each character’s personal journeys of isolation, searching, and healing.
The OST: A Soundtrack that Speaks
A K-drama is definitely incomplete without any soundtrack as they always speak the most unspoken things. And in this department Behind Your Touch is not lagging behind. The album of this drama not only amplifies the emotions of each scene but also brings the quirky and heartfelt tone of the story to life. Along with the vocals the drama’s instrumental parts also took part in tender moments of connection and played a significant role in deepening the viewer’s experience.

As for the conclusion I want to say that, Behind Your Touch is beyond the typical crime, romance or fantasy drama. The way it blends absurd humor, touching relationships, and small-town mysteries wrapped in psychic powers is so new and refreshing. Who could ever think of something like that? You just can not put this drama in one genre because it quite fits in every genre. The story is unique, the comic timing is praiseworthy and the chemistry is cute but what blew the minds of the viewers was the mystery of the serial killer. Not only the common audience, but even the Korean celebrities who were watching it were eager to know who is the actual killer. As almost everyone suspected Kim Seon Woo, Suho who played that particular role shared how his actor friends were calling him asking if he actually killed them. So you can guess how perfect their performances were, right? Ye Bun’s innocence, Jang Yeol’s rudeness and Seon Woo’s suspenseful silence make this drama even more enjoyable.
This drama will give you a ride on a journey to a world where comedy and murder oddly coexist. And it will also give you an emotional roller coaster ride that will make you laugh, cry, worry and even fall in love with some of the characters. In this journey which will elevate the experience is its outstanding OST collection. So overall, you will be getting a package of almost everything which will stay with you for a long time. So, tell me. Are you ready to start an unpredictable and unforgettable journey?
