Plot Summary of Doom at Your Service

The drama is about two lovers who are totally opposite of each other. Tak Dong Kyung is a web novel editor who has a little life left. On the other hand, Myul Mang is a doom, who obviously is a supernatural being. 

Life was always cruel for Tak Dong Kyung. She lost her parents at a young age, has a brother who is kind of a spoiled child as well as her boyfriend whom she loved so much comes out as a cheater who was already married. On top of that, the doctor said she had only 3 months left, and she was going to die from glioblastoma. As she was done with life she got herself drunk and seeing a shooting star drunkenly she wished for the doom of this world. This wish was heard by Myul Mang, who was a doom and has the ability to end the world. Myul Mang was also done with life because he always wanted to live a normal life not as a supernatural power. On his birthday, he chooses to fulfill Tak Dong Kyung’s unusual wish which was to end the world. They sign a contract of 100 days to be together which changes both of their lives. They fall in love and now wish to live with each other.

• • Love and sacrifice: In a deeper sense Doom at Your Service is a drama that tells a story of love and sacrifice. The bond between Tak Dong Kyung and Myul Mang is what you want for life. In the beginning, no one liked each other that much but as time went on they started feeling something strong for each other that allowed them to sacrifice themselves for each other’s love and happiness. They show true love also means enduring, whether it’s pain or anything else.

• Fate vs Free Will: As we all know, our fate is written even before we come to earth, right? But the question is, can our choices change our fate? Can our free will reshape our written fate? In this drama we see that Tak Dong Kyung is destined to die from a fatal disease. Myul Mang is also destined to be a feelingless god of distractions who is supposed to take Tak Dong Kyung’s life. But at the end of the drama we can see how desperately they want to change their lives and their predestined destiny. 

• Life, Death and Healing: In this world, it’s not possible for a person to live as much as they want because the bitter as well as the cruel truth is the mortality of human beings. This drama mostly shows us how vulnerable and incapable humans are against fate and mortality. But still, it needs a lot of courage to acknowledge the vulnerability and illness that grows in you like Tak Dong Kyung did. Again the emotional transformation of Myul Mang who is not a human symbolizes healing. Life is not about the number of years you live but all that matters is whether you are loved by your surroundings or not.

• Human Fragility and Resilience: Tak Dong Kyung is a very strong woman who lives with her spoiled brother and deals with a cruel boss in her workplace. In her life, she went through so much pain like losing her parents, heartbreak, betrayal, overwork and now she has got a terminal illness. For some time she was distressed for sure but soon she pulled herself up and stayed strong. She not only changed her life but also her brother and her boyfriend’s life, which was appreciated by the audience.

She is the embodiment of courage here in this drama who even refuses self-pity. The way she stands against fate as well as death is really inspirable. The beautiful and talented actress Park Bo Young portrayed the character of Tak Dong Kyung so well that she really deserves a lot of praise. 

Myul Mang (Seo In Guk): The Embodiment of Destruction with a Heart

The handsome actor Seo In Guk played the role of Myul Mang, the doom. Myul Mang stands for destruction, he is cold-hearted and never cares about anything. But when he meets Dong Kyung his entire life changes, he changes, he becomes a warm-hearted man. All he wants is a good future with Dong Kyung and also her safety. He becomes desperate to save his love. He becomes a lover instead of a destroyer. This character is so charismatic that it compels the audience to be captivated. 

Cha Joo Ik (Lee Soo Hyuk): The Wise Confidant

The hottest character in the whole drama Doom at Your Service is none other than Cha Joo Ik. Lee Soo Ik is surely the perfect one who played the role of Cha Joo Ik and I guarantee that there is no other actor who could play this role as he did. He is a colleague and a friend of Dong Kyung. He is kind and warm but appears as a cold one. Even though he is not very expressive, his love for Na Ji Na is his real charm. He is both a supportive friend and boyfriend. The subplot of Cha Joo Ik and Na Ji Na is really admired by the viewers.

Na Ji Na (Shin Do Hyun): The Romantic Dreamer

Na Ji Na is a web Novel writer and the bestfriend of Dong Kyung. She is struggling both in her career and her personal life. First of all, I need to say AILEE’s vocals are literally a powerhouse that effortlessly makes this track unforgettable. When I was listening to this song I paused for a moment and I replayed it and listened so attentively. I think I could feel the emotion perfectly that the vocal, as well as the lyrics were trying to make me feel. So I have zero complaints about why this song is labeled as a fan favorite. 

Best One: U 

If you know Baekhyun of EXO, then there is no need to mention how pretty his voice is! Anyways, for people who don’t know, I want to tell you that Baekhyun is one of the most soothing voices in the whole of South Korea. This track encapsulates a bittersweet essence of Doom at Your Service but Baekhyun makes it sound like a comfortable hug that makes you comfortable, which stays with you till the end of the drama and even longer.
