Best of The Best of 2024
What’s your type of drama? Which genre is your favorite? Romance, Melodrama, Thriller, Fantasy Thriller, Comey, Fantasy/ Sci-Fi, Historical Drama, Medical Drama, Legal/ political, Time-Travel etc are the most common and loved genres among fans. Now choose yours, and let’s find the best of this year.
Romance:
Korean Romance or romantic dramas are the main attraction of the fans, both the new and the old fans. Among all the romantic dramas released this year Queen of Tears was the most loved and highest-rated drama both by fans and netizens. Let me give you a basic review of it.
The Queen of Tears:
The love story of a chaebol heiress and a middle-class man was the main theme of the drama. Hong Hae In is the main lead of the drama, here she is the CEO of the group franchise of her family company called the Queen. When she first entered the company as an intern she met Baek Hyun Woo , who was just a mere employee of Queen. Hyun Woo mistook her as a troublemaker intern and helped her with her work as a result she fell in love with the middle-class farmer’s son. Ultimately they get married but for an unfortunate accident they take a back from their relationship and Hyun Woo starts thinking about divorce. One day Hae In comes to know about her fatal disease for which she can die at any moment. Now at first Hyun Woo was happy about this news, but as days passed both of them realized their true love for each other had never changed. Together both of them face so many obstacles and fight against them with their power of love. Family bonding has shown so beautifully, which was highly praised by the fans.
Wait, do you know what’s the thing kdrama is that Kdramas are incomplete with? Yes, you are right, the childhood connection. Both Hae In and Hyun Woo have a past connection from their young age.
All the cast and crew did a very fine job and made it one of the best-rated dramas of 2024.
Cast : Kim Ji Won, Lee Soo Hyun, Park Sunghoon.
Melodrama:
Human life is actually not less than any melodrama. In our life, we face love, and hate relationships, friendship, emotional ups and downs and so on. As well as love we experience betrayal, tragedy, sacrifices and so many other things. Melo dramas are all about these things
Marry My Husband:

Legal/Political/Thriller:
Every country has its own political and legal issues either in real life or in movies. Not everybody enjoys this genre, but still Korea gives its best to those people who are interested in law and politics.
Good Partner:
Han Yu Ri, a rookie, wants to work in the corporal division but somehow she ends up working under Cha Eun Kyung in the Divorce division. Here Cha Eun Kyung is the ace of her law farm as well as a star. The rookie who is the total opposite of Eun Kyung discovers her superior’s marital crisis and comes forward to help her. In Spite of being different, both of them start liking each other and become the best working partners as they understand each other more and more.
As a viewer, I truly enjoyed every episode of it and personally became a fan of Jang Na Ra.
Cast: Jang Na Ra, Nam Ji Hyun, Kim Joon Han, Pyo Ji Hoon.
Fantasy/Time-Travel:
The most exciting genre, at least for me, is Fantasy and time travel. It normally gives wings to one’s imagination. Korea makes this kind of drama most of the time based on their folk stories, historical legends or even based on their own power of imagination. Let’s know two about it because I really love them.
Parasite: the Grey:
The peaceful life of human beings suddenly turns into a mess when some unknown parasitic creatures fall from the sky. Those little ugly creatures start destroying human life by entering into their body and killing some of them. They make the human body their host and control them however they like. To survive humans must fight against those filthy creatures.
We have three most important characters here, Jeong Su In, Seol Kang Woo, and Choi Jun Kyung. One night a creature slips into Jeong Su In’s body but it fails to take over her brain as a result both to be alive and start living together. Seol Kang Woo goes after the parasites to find his younger sister. On the other hand, the police officer Choi Jun Kyung pledges to get rid of all those filthy parasites because she lost her husband to them.
The drama is the direct sequel of the famous Japanese manga Kiseiju. This sequel introduces the new characters of the original story.
Cast: Jeon So Nee, Koo Kyo Hwan, Lee Jung Hyun.
Lovely Runner:
Almost all the fans were so obsessed with this drama that they are still idealizing the characters of the drama. Sun Jae, a famous idol singer, suddenly took his own life according to the news. Im Sol, one of his fans who found the reason for living when Sun Jae motivates her to live one more day when she is tired of living, can not accept that Sun Jae has killed himself. Mysteriously in that very moment she finds herself in her school era and that was through sun Jae’s old watch and promises herself to save her idol at any cost. She finds Sun Jae and tries to tell him about the upcoming future but fails as she can not disclose the future. Whenever she talks about the future, time stops. However, she doesn’t lose hope and tries to stop the horrible future and make Sun Jae live happily in the future.
Viewers fall in love with Im Sol for her innocent and charming nature and Sun Jae for his caring nature and love for Im Sol. We also have a second lead who is for sure a green flag.
Cast: Byeon Woo Seok, Kim Hye Yoon, Song Geon Hee, Lee Seung Hyub.
Historical Drama:
Due to their strong root connection from their ancient history, every year they make some super exciting and super heroic story as they are very proud of it.
Queen Woo:
Very recently the historical drama that made the fans hooked on was the drama Queen Woo. The storytelling, plot, actors, graphics, strength everything was on top. The real historical character of the last queen of Goguryeo was fictionalized here. The brave king Go Nam Moo was found dead in his bed chamber when he came back from war. His death was a threat to his country because two of his brothers were evil and were hungry for power and the throne. To save the country, the queen sets her foot out and the suitable prince to marry at that very night of the death of the king. Doing so she faces so many obstacles and fights bravely. But unfortunately, those evil brothers of the king get to know about the king’s death and come to the country to take over the throne, lastly, the queen decides to wage war to save her country.
Cast: Ji Chang Wook, Jeon Jong Seo, Park Ji Hwan, Kim Mu Yeol, Lee Soo Hyuk.
Medical Drama:
This one is no doubt one of the best drama genres among the fans, the life of a doctor, story of a hospital is surely an interesting subject to know about.
Doctor Slump:
The story is about a beauty surgeon and an anesthesiologist. Both of them had a school rivalry as both of them were the top students of their school. Now both of them are burnout doctors and currently unemployed. The anesthesiologist Ha Neul faced betrayal from one of her senior doctors and being mistreated she resigned, on the other hand, the beauty surgeon Yeo Jeong Woo due to a medical issue had to leave the hospital. Now both of them are in their life’s worst phases and accidentally meet and become each other’s soldiers. We can see the enemies to lovers trope here.
Cast: Park Shin Hye, Park Hyunsik.
Comedy:
Comedy or fun elements are always successful in reducing our stress which brings a lot of viewers every year. And this makes comedy dramas successful as well as makes the viewers stress-free.
Dreaming of Fucking Fairy Tale:
The name itself is funny, right? The story will also make you laugh from the first to the last episode. The story is of a girl who wants to marry a rich guy as Cinderella did, but the prince, more to say the arrogant CEO of her company, does not like Cinderella at all. Both of them come face to face and make this drama funnier in every episode. This lighthearted comedy will not only make you laugh but from time to time will give butterflies in your stomach.
Cast: Lee Jun Young, Pyo Ye Jin, Song JI Woo, Kim Hyun Jin.
